What is an Unreached People Group?

There are many different definitions of unreached people groups, but we define unreached people groups (UPGs) as a group of people distinguished by language or culture that are generally less than 2% Christian and lacks the resources to evangelize that people group. So there may be some Christians in a people group, but they do not have the ability to reach their own people with the gospel. This is usually due to insufficient training or not enough Christian workers.

People groups are not nation states, but distinct ethnic groups within a country. Indonesia is home to over 700 people groups, 130 who are considered unreached.

We need your help to reach the unreached people groups in Indonesia. Your support can make the difference, no matter how large or small. You can fill out the form at the bottom of the page to show your support today.

According to Joshua Project, there are still over 7,000 unreached people groups in the world, and the population of those groups is about 3 billion people. Can you believe there are 3 billion people in the world today that still don’t have adequate access to the gospel? Neither can we.

Why does this matter? First, because many are perishing without the opportunity to hear the good news even once. That’s not fair! Second, Jesus says in Matthew 24:14:

“And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come.”

Indopartners is working to see the number of UPGs in Indonesia decrease to zero! We are primarily accomplishing this through digital evangelism. You can play a vital role in sharing the gospel throughout Indonesia and eliminating the UPGs by donating today!
